NW5 Pickers

The NW5 pickers work at mapping and harvesting the fruit around North London, focussing on Belsize Park, Tufnell Park, Primrose Hill, Crouch End, Kentish Town and the surrounding area that would otherwise go to waste.

Many of our local trees have good crops of apples, pears, quinces, cherries, plums and many other fruits and nuts. If you would like to try some fruit harvesting, or have a new fruit tree we don’t know about, please get in touch!

The link below is a map of trees we know about. If you know of a tree that is not on the map, do get in touch at:

Who are we?

Local volunteers and residents who hate to see food going to waste and love the free fruits nature offers.

What do we do?

We organise day harvesting and foraging depending on the time of the year.

What do we make?

We like to make  preserves, wine, cider, dehydrated fruits and lovely fresh juices for the community to use at events.

When do we go?

It all depends on the season and the fruits’ ripeness, so best to email with your name and number and we’ll ask you to join the next harvesting.

During September and October is our busy period as the streets and gardens are carpeted with apples and pears. We usually pick these for local fairs we organise, or juicing sessions planned in Kentish Town and local schools. Failing that we give the surplus to our local Veg Box project and it’s distributed amongst the community as free fruit. We hope to organise brewing and preserve making workshops in the future.
